How can we best support our children as they move from grade to grade, from elementary to middle to high school? What tools and strategies will help them create their own best route to graduation and beyond? Join Deb Douglas to learn the four essential steps to self-advocacy that will allow our children to understand themselves as gifted learners, recognize their rights and responsibilities, and find advocates that will ease the transitions at every stage of their education. There will be time for community conversation after the hour presentation.

Deb Douglas coordinated gifted education for over 20 years in Manitowoc (WI), is past president of the Wisconsin Association for Talented and Gifted, and served on the NAGC Parent Advisory Board. As the founder and director of GT Carpe Diem Educational Consulting, she facilitates self-advocacy workshops for gifted learners, provides professional development for educators, and speaks at state, national, and international conferences. Her books, The Power of Self-Advocacy: Teaching the Four Essential Steps to Success (2018), and Empowering Underrepresented Gifted Learners: Voices from the Field (2021) are available from Free Spirit Publishing.
