Attention Divergent Hyperactive Giftedness:
Building on the Creative Capacity of 2e Students

Tuesday, November 14, 2023, 6:30-8:00pm

via Zoom

Presenter:  C. Matthew Fugate, Ph.D.

Supported by: MCGT's 2e Community Group

There is increased understanding of the importance of creativity for both the individual and society as a whole. To nurture creativity in our gifted students with ADHD, we must approach education and parenting from a strength-based perspective. In this session, we will examine the research on twice-exceptionality and explore the practical implications of these findings in building creative thinking skills to meet the needs of this unique population.

C. Matthew Fugate is Provost of Bridges Graduate School of Cognitive Diversity in Education. He received his doctorate in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies from Purdue University. Previously, Matthew worked as an elementary teacher, Gifted Coordinator, and Magnet School Coordinator. His research interests include twice-exceptional students and students from underserved populations. Matthew has presented on topics including the social-emotional needs of twice-exceptional students, culturally responsive pedagogy, and creativity. He is currently President-elect for the Texas Association for Gifted and Talented. Matthew was named one of the 22 People to Watch in the neurodiversity movement by 2e Media.
