Advocacy is an ongoing process. How your child's individual needs are best met will be unique; a combination of traditional and non-traditional educational experiences, learning opportunities in the community, and learning experiences in the home. The exact details will depend upon the individual child, the family, and the available options and opportunities.
In Part 1 we will use MCGT’s Advocacy Toolkit* to support your relationship with educators, develop a learn profile for your learner, prepare for upcoming parent/educator conferences, and discuss successful advocacy strategies, and potential obstacles to effective advocacy. There will be time for discussion and questions.
*We will show you MCGT's Advocacy Toolkit during this session. However, you must be a MCGT Member to access the MCGT Toolkit. Not a member? Join today!
Kathy Geary is the MCGT Advocacy Chair and architect of the Advocacy Toolkit, Carol Malueg is the MCGT Connections Chair and author of The Road to Positive Advocacy for Your Gifted Child, published by Prufrock Press.
